CPU usage flucuating between 85-100%???

So what is showing cpu usage at 85-100??? I mean task manager bar has to be correlating with the numbers in the processes tab under task manager...

Is the system sluggish or none responsive???

Start--> run--> type in "msconfig" (without quotation marks). Go to far right tab ---startup. Look for CTHelper, uncheck the box, hit okay and reboot. 🙂
CTHelper is a manager for creative drivers and updates, and bogs your system wayyyyy down.🙁

Last time I saw what you are describing was when I had a virus and my machine was part of a DDOS attack. It was weird, go to task manager, to the processes tab, and everything looked normal, if you added up the %CPU usage, it was normal. But when your went to the Performance tab, CPU usage was 85 to 95%.

So, it is possible you have a virus...

Does it have the very latest virus signatures, is it running with heuristics enabled, set to kill-on-sight-NO-questions-asked when it sees an infected file, and no files or file types excluded, plus System Restore disabled and all SR files deleted so the viruses have nowhere to hide?

Also give Spybot S&D a whirl, and slap on ZoneAlarm.

<-- likes making life heck for viruses and spyware 😀
