CPU upgrade

Hi all, i have currently an Aopen AK73pro A board in my machine, i have a Duron 1700 on it and i would like to step it up. What do you all reccomend i do? should i just get another system or do the chip upgrade and get a faster hard disk. Many thanks.

fastest thing your gona get for that is an old kinda rare 2600XP, think its 2.133 Ghz but sice your bigest problem is mempry bandwidth any XP would help out a bit, you may want to bite the bullet and get a new MB that uses ddr there are a lot of cheap combos out there? pr who know if your MB support multiplier adjustmenst you may be able to get it to work with a mobile barton cpu.

I thought the KT133A chipset could only go up to 1.4ghz Athlon Thunderbirds.

If i could run a 2600 i would certainly do it but i just need some guidance about the installation, i think at this point i might get some more memory as well. I definately need a faster hd, but i think my board can only use eide not the new sata. please if anyof you folks know, do let me know.
