My first build consisted of gig mobo ga990 fxa uda 3 with amd 8350. Went to switch factory cpu fan with cors h60 hydro and pulled the cpu out with bent pins straightened them out and put back in without cooler on it to see if it would boot up. Did not came on got extremely hot after a few seconds and shut down. so I'm figuring its toast not sure if I damaged mobo. Now I'm not sure if I want to buy a new amd cpu being that the mobo could be damage to or if I should go ahead and go another direction. This is strictly a gaming computer. Here's my questions. Keep board if it's not damaged buy another amd 9590 or 8350. Another is start over with evga z87 classified or asus max vi extreme pairing with i7-4770k or i7-3770k. I'm down and I am really new at this need help!!!

Hard to say. Take a careful look at the motherboard and look for anything out of the ordinary, such as bulged capacitors.

cpus are quite possibly the most resilient piece of hardware in the system, they can take a lot of abuse and still work. Very rarely have I ever had a dead cpu.

Bent pins usually are not a problem to straighten, though when they have been completely bent and I've re-straightened, a few cpus have been glitchy. But slightly bent pins straightened, never had an issue personally.

Even overheated cpus still function fine after cooling off. Once in a while on my bench system a cable will get in the way & block the cpu fan from running, and it will overheat to where the system shuts off and it smells like burnt electronics. But the amd cpu has always run without any issues after cooling off for a minute.

You system may not have fully come on when you tried it without a cooling fan (never a good idea, if you ever want to test, at least have the heatsink sitting on top of the cpu even if not fully latched, it will provide sufficient cooling to briefly test) because it knew nothing was attached to the cpu fan power connector. Hook it all up and give it another try.
