Recently bought a amd ahtlon 64 x2 5000+ and i have a ZALMAN 9700 cooling this cpu...ive been monitoring the temps for the last hour and when idle..the temps go from 29 degrees to 38 degrees with in the matter of seconds...this a bad sensor? Ive been using asus probe to monitor temps but i checked in bios and the temps where doing the same thing...

Feel it, you should be able to tell if its really 38.

EDIT: I am not liable for any third degree burns, or loss of body parts, should you choose to feel it. :p

Dude 38 degrees is nothing... Is this at idle? If it's reaching the upper 40's or lower 50's, i would be worried...

Yes your temps are looking good.
To find out your max load temp run S&M ( CPU ) FPU Test.
It will reach the highest temperature possible [ though your everyday gaming/processing/etc load temp will be a little bit { 2-4C } lower than the max temp when running S&M ]

[ for S&M Download links check www.benchmarkhq.ru ] { there's an english version ofcourse }
