CPU Temps too high?

Right now i'm running Prime95 stress test and i've got 55 on one core and 57 on another. My HSF is the AC 7 Pro. is this too high? After what I've seen it would seem realy high.

What program did you use to read the temps? Are you running at stock speed and voltage?

If those are truly core temps, you're perfectly fine. While they may be a little high for the default speed and voltage, you're still 40C +/- away from TJmax.

It's stock speeds and I'm using CPUID Hardware Monitor to check the temps. From reviews I thought it was a bit high

For the stock speed and voltage, it does seem a little high. But, it's nothing to worry about as you are still WAY below the max threshold.

The AC 7 is a decent cooler. What kind of case cooling do you have and what's the ambient temps?

Ambient temps are somewhere in the 80s (college kids not using the ac to save money 🙂 ), centurion 590 w/ 2 fans, front in, rear exhaust. I used the paste that already came on the cooler, is that a problem? Also, the HSF is touching the passive heatsinks that surround the CPU socket, Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo.

I have that case, and I have the three bay cover filters over the front fan removed temporarily for the summer. Made a noticeable temperature difference in my case. Going to have to dust it out after the summer, though, I suspect. I also have the additional top fans installed.

Really though, your temps as is are fine.
