Hello,

I have had my system for almost 2 months and when i first built it i was seeing 35-38 degrees and now 2 months later my temps continue to soar. Now averaging 45-47 degrees. I have 2 case fans 1 intake 1 exhaust. My system specs are below ........ Any Ideas

AMD 2000+ Palamino
Abit KD7-E KT333 Motherboard
Thermaltake Dragon Orb 3 HSF (sounds like an F-16)
2 x 256 mb DDR2700 Kingston Memory
ATI 9000 Pro
Soundblaster Live 5.1

How are the fans positioned? Are they on opposite ends? Also, check the dust level. If there is lots of dust, maybe you put one of your fans in the wrong way.

Yes after 2 months my guess would be dust collection on fans & the heatsink,go buy a can of air & Give it a blow job.

Your pc will like it,who doesnt like a nice blow job?;)

If you smoke, have pets and the case is near ground level the dust buildup will stifle the heat dissipating ablities of everything in the case.

Yea, clean the HSF. My HSF got clogged with dust and my temps raised quite a bit, and when I cleaned it out the temps went back to normal.

Worth 1-5 degrees for most people, sometimes no difference, sometimes huge.

But I'm guessing your problem is more basic. Welcome to spring? Went from being in the 20's to 80's in the past week and my temps went up because of it. Not warm enough to turn the AC on yet though :)

My 2100+ @ 2.3GHz (1.81v) is running 56C idle w/ a room temp of 24.4C

However I am using a SLK800a w/ a 24cfm panaflo and have a quiet case.

For the record my 1700+ @ 1.9ghz ran ~35C Idle with a TT Volcano 7+ (Low Speed) & ASIII and Apprx ~40 on full load.

Thoroughbred B Sorry ;-)

Depending on what paste it is, I guess the thoroughest (word?) route would be to get some Goof Off and a paper towel. You may be able to get away with just a papertowel as I am talking of getting rid of ASIII of a CPU. I had to do that, still awaiting new Mobo to get that bad boy fired up again. I can't wait. I've been on this Coppermind P3 way too long!

Edit: My OC is also mildly conservative. ~2.1-2.2Ghz should be no problem, but I don't feel like messing with voltages and the like. 11x166 Runs good enough for me :D (well, yeah, that's a little more on the 1.8ghz side. I know I know, I'm a wuss!)

I have a XP2000 Palamino, but it is on an ECS K7S5A, and the temp only shows for me in the BIOS, but my 2100 Palamino runs up to 63.5c. I got a Vantec C7040 HSF for my 2400 and 2700, and they run 38c, and are virtually silent (but not cheap at $25) even when OC'ed to 2.2 and 2.4 ghz respectively. (vs 2.0 and 2.16 stock) The dust is also definitly a problem, but noise sounds like it is also a problem for you.

Gimme a sec as I glance through Asus Probe-

I average 34-35 idle and 41 on a hot day when i'm using the CPU @ 100% for extended periods of time (Video Encoding)

1700+ Tbred A @ 1.75Ghz @ 1.7v

Volcan9 + AS3 :)

I would say that the Dragon Orb is a big part of the problem. It isn't exactly an effecient cooler.

Also, what are your case temps? I agree with everyone else that some AS3 and a good cleaning will do a lot of good also.
