CPU temps much higher with 92mm fan adapter

I have a Duron 850 running on an Abit KT7 with a Taisol 742. Previously with the stock fan, I was reaching max CPU temps of 105F.

I installed a 92mm fan adapater and have a 42cfm 92mm fan blowing onto the sink. But now my temps peg at 120F. Any ideas where the sudden huge jump in temps came from?

The sink is barely warm to the touch, yet it is clipped on. I can't really see the Taisol clip allowing the sink to move. Also when installing the adapter, I did not take the sink off the CPU, so it should have the same contact.

Any ideas? If i hadn't broken the 60mm fan, I'd try it again, but alas it is destroyed.

Sometimes bigger is not better, all tube type fans create a votexed flow of air, imagine a tornado or hurricane> the outside air is spinning in a circle but the center air is almost still. When you increase the size of the fan you also increase this still air area. The outside edges of the sink may be getting alot of air flow but the part in the eye of the vortex may have decreased flow from your original setup.

hmm maybe when I get home I'll try setting it to suck air away from the sink.
