My P3600e runs at 876MHz (146FSB), 1.75V at about 28C idle, & 38-40 running SETI. It has an Alpha P3125 w/ 2 YSTech fans, copper spacer around the cpu die, silver compound.

I just tried out a C2 566 at 807MHz (95FSB), 1.65V & it ran about 35C, and while running SETI, it spikes up & down from 40C-65C. This cpu has a Golden Orb, copper spacer, MSI slocket, silver compound.

Obviously, the slot 1 Alpha helps out more than the GOrb, but it shouldn't make that much of a difference, should it?

Do these celerons run THAT much hotter. How do your temps compare??? BTW...both cpus were tested on my P3V4X.

I dont have your m/brd but I found that when I went from a generic slocket to an Asus 1 the cpu temps became much more stable on my setup (& showed 5C lower temps!).
Can you try out another slocket?

BTW ,do you belong to a SETI team? if not, want to join Team Anandtech? :)

SETI@home is a program that searches through radio data recorded from a radio telescope looking for Alien signals :).
You register as an individual but you can also join teams .
Check out my sig for more details.

BTW I have a PII 233 @ 280 MHz (2.5x112) ,runs nicely on the BX board its on :)
