P4P800 motherboard, my cpu temp shows as 21c at idle, 28c full load with ambient motherboard temp at 29C

This is with the ASUS Probe software with a SP-94 and 90 mm Thermaltake fan.

To contrast, with my IC7, temps were 20 degrees higher or so with a Zalman.

It also shows my CPU Voltage as being at 1.696 whereas AIDA 32 shows it at 1.65 and the bios shows it at 1.575

HOLY COW DUNG.. I have set my voltage as low as it can go in the bios--1.525 volts, and AIDA32 shows it as 1.6 volts and ASUS PROBE shows it as 1.632 volts. Is my power supply defective, or is this a motherboard problem? That doesnt seem right! Sandra shows as 1.63 volts as well.. ARRGH

Sorry slag, but get out your digital multimeter and do a reality check. ;) Asus Probe = teh

i would suspect that either the software or the bios is reading the temps wrong
you got a good heatsink there so i wouldn't worry too much about it tho

maybe someone that owns that board can recommend slag something ??

good luck

Asus boards always overvolt at idle & show cpu temps a bit lower than other boards.

What does it read in the bios itself?

I wouldnt know where on this board to do a voltage check with my handy dandy volt meter.

Hah, didn't we tell you the Thermalright's would give you lower temps?:D

The ATX cable is your target. :)

welcome to the "asus vs abit" debate.
(vcore and temps)

where have you been? ;)

asus 1.525v = abit 1.575v
asus temps = add 10*C
abit temps = subtract 10*C

;)

Thugs is correct. You should add about 8-10°C to the CPU temp reading that you get from this Asus board. I use MBM5 and add the compensation there.

The mobo temp also seems to run about 2-3°C too warm on this board. I suspect the sensor is too close to something hot like the NB or the DIMM slots, or it's tucked away in some out-of-the-airflow location.
