Well I am not totally sure but I think thats close to the temperature the chip is supposed to fail at. I just went and checked you still have 2 degrees to MaxT core which means thermal meltdown. So either the program you are reading is misquoting it or you chip is hot......

Ask Mikewarrior if your mobo has a problem reading the on-die thermistor, if not then you got something really wrong.

A) what's your Motherboard?

B) what's your mb/system temp?

C) What kind of heatsink are you using?

It's an Asus CUSL2-C. The m/b temp is about 30 celsius. It's just a cheapie $20 heatsink/fan that I bought at Fry's. Both the CPU temp in the bios and Motherboard Monitor 5 say the same thing, so I think the reading is accurate. Today it reached 80 degrees celsius. It's only 40 or so at idle. Do you think I should take it out and reapply the thermal compound to the heatsink?
