cpu temp high

i just built a computer...and my cousin gave me a program called everest home...or something like that...and the program is telling me that my cup is running at 70 c....but when i check in the bio's it says that the cup is running at only 31c...can some one help me out here...i don't want to use my computer any more until i find out whats tellimg me the truth and fix the problem if there is any...thanks

Make sure your version of Everest is 1.51x. Also try out motherboard monitor 5... You'll need to tell MBM what mobo you have, so have that info ahead of time.

Personally, both MBM and Everest have reported the same temps on systems I've built... What mobo do you have?

okay, sorry i didn't mention the mobo...
gigabyte nvidia nforce3 250/ATX
k8 socket 754/ AGP 8x

the cpu is a amd 64 2800+ clawhamer
pdp 512 ddr ram (3200)

and i am unsure what verison of everest home i have...i'll check latter

does this info help???

sorry i dont know much about computers and what came along with my mobo...i did use some of the stuff that came along with the cd...like the easy 4 tune...but didn't oc it...just looks kool...and my cousin did most of the rest...i'll go dl the newest version of everest and i'll check it out...i'll get back to you on the temp...thanks

I've heard that some motherboards need a BIOS upgrade to accurately report temps.
