CPU temp for 1.1GHz athlon?

Sabs

I was wondering what the normal temperature is for a 1.1 GHz athlon. Right now mine is running 118-123 degrees fahrenheit. I am using a thermaltake orb (5500 RPM).

The first thng to consider, for socket-a setups, is where the temp is being measured from, and what bios revision you have?

SEcondly, I would be vary wary of using a c-orb for a 1.1ghz CPU. The way air flows off the c-orb forces air underneath the socket, which interferes with socket-thermistor temp readings. Chances could be very likely that your c-orb equipped t-bird is running some 30-32C over ambient case temp(CORE temp wise).

What is your ambient case temp? And what is your MB temp?

Ambient temp is in the mid-70's. I don't plan to ever overclock my Athlon, I just want it to stay at a temperature that'll allow it to run for long periods of time without getting too hot.

My 1.1 Ghz system with ASUS A7V bios 1004D @1.6v

Taisol 733/734 heatsink with quiet panaflo
PSU fan, 80mm exhaust fan, slot fan

Idle: 44-46C CPU, 28-30C Mobo

Under Heavy Usage: 47C max CPU (116F, 31C max Mobo (88F)

I can also boot up stable with a 1.5v and that reduces all temperatures by 2C

Hope that helps. Also got a In Win A500 rev 2 case.

EEEk... the MSI k7t pro2a tends to read temps a bit on the low side(lacks Kt7 or A7v bios compensation).

but if your heatsink is mounted properly, you should be okay. Keep in mind that if you ever do overclock, the c-orb probably will not be adequate.
