cpu speed resetting"?

Ok my girlfriend has been having some problems with her computer, i haven't had a good chance to look at it, other then from what she told me it was resetting. I checked the voltages real quick but it was just a glance and not under load, i plan to do a more thorough check tommorrow.

However what really confuses me is that her CPU speed keeps resetting, well everytime the computer restarts, it says her cpu speed isn't right and that its running at 1100 mhz and it tells her to enter bios. However when i enter bios it shows a 166mhz clock and 11 multiplier which equals the 1800 or so mhz. Now when i switch, then switch it back, it takes it and boots up normally.

But it will reset and go back to the 1100 mhzs, any ideas?

Mine did that for a while; the multiplier kept dropping down to x6. I had the memory and FSB overclocked to 217; after dropping it back down to 200 it has run fine ever since.
