I JUST put a pc together, and i'm getting sorta high temp readings for the cpu (from the bios).
It's reading at roughly 42-44 C. I'm not positive but is it because i just installed it and my arctic silver hasn't "set" yet?
Anyone got any reasons why this might be?

Specs:

Athlon xp 1700
epox 8kha+
alpha pal 6035 with Sunon 23.5cfm fan

Thanks

For an 8kha+/PAL6035, your temps are fine. Consider that you're 14C over ambient system temp.

I think you are not out of the reasonable range....I think you could work on the system temps...maybe some more case fan or look at how case is ventilating inside and around the exterior...

30c is 86f which is a bit warm in most rooms...that is at least past the comfort zone of 70-74f....

My system temps average 24c or 75.2f which is about 3f warmer then room temp...load ca take it to 26c or 78.8f

System temp will be a more accurate reflection of the internal case temperature, and case temperature will effect cpu temps as most hsf on chips will draw air onto hs and chip for cooling...Warm air cooling warm hs and chip will be less effective...

W/ case temp at 30C, the CPU temp is about 10C more normally...so around 42-44C is fine.
