CPU Rankings

Does any one know of a link to a site that gives you a ranking of all the current CPU's by performance? I am trying to pick a CPU and I would like to know how much perfornce I would gain for the price of one over the other.

I looked around, most sites just compare the three or four chips last released. Anandtech, you have to go back a bit to see the comparisons. Most comparisons these days seem to be motherboards.

Wow, that just says one thing:
Synthetic benchmarks really ARE the most useless thing ever.
Intel are stomping AMD in most of theose synthetic benchmarks, it's so rediculous it's funny.
And 3D Mark really IS totally useless at measuring anything but GPU performance.
The different between a high end processor now, and a 700MHz processor is so small that it's stupid.

well that makes me feel a lot better about my amd64 3500, but does anyone care to elaborate? what benchmarks should i be looking at?

EDIT: sorry OP if i'm getting off topic, but it seems like you got your answer already and i'm just curious about these benchmarks myself 🙂

whatever you wuill use it for. for me, i just look at game benchies cause that the only reason i have a pc at home.
