CPU questions on A64 chip

I have a question on the Hypertransport of the A64 chip. On Sandra, my A64 chip showed up with a FSB of 800x2. However, since the 754 socket only runs memory at single channel. I wonder how would that 800x2 FSB would help communication between CPU and memory?

Sorry I really don't know much about how hardware works but I see how website listed NF3 150 supports HT at 1200, VIA supports HT at 1600 and the new NF3 250 supports HT at 2000, I wonder how would that difference in FSB help since we only run single channel on a A64 chip.

Thanks very much for all the help!

I believe all system components (hard drives, video cards, pci cards, etc.) go through the Hypertransport, not just system memory.

the hypertransport is just the link between the cpu and the rest of the system, excluding the system memory, which makes it important to make faster but perhaps not as noticeable as a higher fsb might be in a system which didn't have an integrated memory controller
basically a faster hypertransport is good for all the peripherals and could help in server environments with raid/gigabit ethernet, or even in a gaming :)

personally i like more bandwidth to the system, but real world results might not be worth it if you have to pay too much

good luck
