cpu question

aight, well, I've been having some problems with my new setup(not posting etc) ... but for the question, if the cpu is seated all the way down, will that cause the system not to post?? like, whenever the cpu is locked down, the back half of it sits up off motherboard a little bit ... anyone have any suggestions? should I RMA the board and hopfully get a new one that lets the cpu sit all the way down??

if i think i understand what ur saying.... then maybe the cpu has a slightly bent pin on the half where it wont go into the socket? u need to bend it back

yeah, the computer isnt posting cuz its not seeing the cpu, if its not a pin or something silly like that, definitly a defective board, he cpu should sit COMPLETELY flush with the socket

the pins are FINE, all straight... no discoloration on the cpu .... whenever in the locked position and even with the heatsink on, it still isnt flush .... also, everytime I unlatch the socket, I hear a snapping noise, once again, the cpu's pins are all fine. so Im thinking the board is messed up.

Is there dust or something in a pin hole in the socket? If the socket's defective, you may need to RMA. If a pin hole is dirty, you may need some of the FAR type canned air.

its a brand new board, I think its just defective, has anyone ever heard of the pins on a cpu to be too long than the others??

the thing that kinda confuses me, is whenever I power up the board with nothing on it, it says no cpu installed, whenever I put the cpu in. .... it doesnt say anything.. any comments?
