CPU problem

I recently built a computer witha xp 3200+ processor. After installing everything, i started up windows and checked the system properites. It clocked my cpu running at 1.1ghz, way below the speed for a 3200+. i ran multiple tests and they all turned out the same...did i recieve the wrong cpu, or do i need to do something in bios, etc.

Since the 3200+ runs at 11x200 FSB = 2.2Ghz, it appears that BIOS is running the chip at a 100 Mhz FSB and essentially running the chip at half speed. Just go into the BIOS and make sure the FSB is set at 200 or Auto and it should run at the true 2.2Ghz speed.

You might also need to update the BIOS for that particular board.

You need to give more system specs but quick math is telling you something - the XP3200+ should run at 200MHz times 11 or 2.2GHz. Yours is running at 1.1GHz so your BIOS settings must be wrong. The FSB probably is set to 100MHz.
