i have just decided to upgraded my celeron to a 300mhz one. How do i remove my oreginal and install the new one? It is the slot 1 type (the kind that you install on its side).
Thanks
if it's the slot variety you should be able to just pull it out straight like a pci card, but make sure there isn't anything holding it onto the motherboard around the cpu, if there is then there should be 4 plastic pins in the corner of it, just pull each one of those out and remove the retaining device before pulling the chip out.
Don't laugh though. In my comp right now, i have a 133mhz pentuim. And my friend gave me his old motherboard which supports celerons and p2s from 200-450mhz
It might not be a BX chipset, wasn't there something just before that called lx, gx, or zx. Its a possibility that it could have one of these chipsets.
Had this board in the past. It is a LX board, fsb: 66, 75 , 83 , not a bad board , but limited overcklocking posibilities and you cant put a vid card with more than 16 Mb mem.
My motherboard doesn't support 100mhz bus. But the person who used this cpu before, had and overclocked the bus to 100mhz. I tried to set the cpu clock speed to 50mhz and the same thing occured.
