CPU Poll

Just interested in what your MAIN pc uses. AMD or Intel. Not looking as to why one or the other. Just if you use AMD or Intel. (It's work related) 🙂

Where's the poll selection buttons to vote ? Something similar to this

AMD
INtel
Both
Other
What's a cpu ?

I'm trying to get my job to switch from HP Intel workstations to HP AMD workstations. So I want to show them this poll cuz I know most of ATers use AMD, just need to show them proof. 🙂 Of course, I will have to edit this particular post before I present it to them.

I voted for Intel because you are wasting company time with this silly poll. I think you'd be more productive if you did your personal browsing on your own time. You'd save your company more money by just doing your damn job then you would by getting them to spend more money on the same computers with different brand processors.

Oh yeah, I also voted for Intel because that's what I currently own, although I'm sure I've still got an old amd k6 266 laying around here somewhere..... 😉

Alternatively.....you could save yourself the trouble of having to count your fingers to figure it out and just show your boss this link. In it you will find the statistics for all registered user rigs. 🙂

Desktop - Gaming - AMD Athlon 64
Laptop - Office Applications - Intel Centrino

They each have their place. If I were doing Multimedia editing, I wouldn't even consider an AMD, but for gaming, they rule.

Also, as far as laptops/notebooks are concerned, the Centrino's are by far the best. 6-8 hours on a single battery charge, integrated WiFi, dynamic CPU under/over clocking... They'd suck for gaming, but does anyone play games on a laptop.....

Companies generally choose Intel Pentium systems because they're the most reliable.

good stats, dint even know they existed.

Also, if you plan to run WinXP64, consider Intel...this article shows a lot of benchmarks in relation between the AMD and Intel 64bit platforms. The Intel trumps the AMD in pretty much everything except gaming and memory bandwidth, IIRC. (sorry, it's late)

P.S. I voted Intel!

I voted for Intel because I don't play many games, at least not hardware-dependant ones and I think I could use Hyperthreading because I'm a multitasking kind of guy.

P.S.

I built my sister an AMD rig for general purpose and she likes it, don't count me in either camp.
