Out of nowhere my CPU has been overheating. I checked for dust, checked bios settings, reseated the heatsink, checked the fan, but its still overheating. I had no problems like this for the first 2 years I have owned this CPU.

AMD 64 socket 754 3400

Seems like its just 'all of the sudden'

Any ideas?

What's your airflow like? I mean, does your case have an intake fan and an exhaust fan? If you do not have at least one or the other, you're just blowing hot air over the CPU. This doesn't explain why your CPU just started to overheat now, though, after two years of working perfectly.

You sure your PSU isn't overvolting to the CPU? Can sometimes happen right before it blows.

sorry, how can you determine it is overheating?

just too hot to touch it? or it suddenly shut down itself?

We need more details. Idle temp? load temp? Stock idle? Stock Load? Load temp with cover off the case. and any other info you care to share.
