If you mean on each core it says 44x
Frequency 4000 MHz
Turbo frequency 4200 MHz (4 cores)
4300 MHz (3 cores)
4400 MHz (1 or 2 cores)
That's the problem.
You are overclocking the chip on the stock cooler.
It's way too much wattage.
The stock multiplier under a heavy load is 40X.
44X is only for 1 or 2 cores under a light load.
You have some sort of overclocking turned on in the BIOS.

This is what it shows in CPU-Z

Intel's BXTS15A is better than the stock cooler, and it has the same pushpin mounting.
A Coolermaster Hyper TX-3 is better than stock as well, and uses the push pins.
The Coolermaster 212Evo is probably the best bang for buck air cooler. It is a screw on mount with a backplate. You can do some overclocking with it. It's what I have.

Ok, I just re seated my stock cooler and turned my computer back on and it gave me a "overclocking failed" error press f1 for setup.
Just hit f5 in the bios EZ menu and leave it at defaults until you get a better cooler.
Yes, a water cooling system should certainly solve your problems if you want to pay for one.
70c-80c is what I get with my stock cooler, also if your cpu has a higher VID then it will generate more heat. Your mobo might giving it more voltage than it needs. Not sure, if it overclocks it or not. Try downclocking it to say 37x, and then record temps while in-game.I get about 42-45c in BIOS and I've been getting low 30's to low 40's at idle now. Once I open a game or install a driver or something is when it goes up to 70-100c
Pretty slim, but I would stick with your H100i, just get it replaced. It's a fine cooler. What's the chances of me getting a faulty stock cooler and a faulty H100i GTX??? Everything is under warranty so I can get whatever is wrong fixed I just need to find out what it is.
