We know for a fact that an i7 @ 3.6 is more powerful than a core 2 @ 3.6 yes? If BFG10k is right and 95% of games are ignoring this, instead of saying its a waste to upgrade the cpu, maybe more developers should utilize both the cpu and the gpu if possible(instead of promoting general bottlenecks in hardware) since the majority of people probably do some other tasks with their PCs that will warrant a cpu upgrade eventually anyway.

I wont pretend to know everything about this discussion but this is just the general conclusion I've come to after reading all of these posts so far. Although I still applaud everyone who went through the trouble of doing any real world tests for this thread or any others.
