This topic is not about competition, we are not hwbot.org.
I would like to ask to only post desktop CPU results and 24/7 Overclocks. It would be very helpful to have a couple of Server CPU results for reference but plz keep the number low.
This topic would be helpful for people trying to upgrade/purchase a new CPU, so let’s keep it like that.

Thank you all for participating

We start with the following software and perhaps we'll add more in the future.

Application versions as of today 26 April 2012
TrueCrypt v7.1a. 500MB (Download from here: http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads)
Cinebench 11.5 (Download from here: http://www.maxon.net/downloads/cinebench.html)

Okay, here we go! Bear in mind I'm only running 1600MHz RAM on fairly high timings (check the sig) and a very slow Seagate Barracuda (isn't bad, just fairly slow compared to many modern HDDs). I still don't have the option to upload pics as I'm not really an active member of the forum I guess, so these will be off ImageShack:

7-ZIP:

Cinebench:

Wow, it actually did quite good on this bench, beating the I7 960. Well, I will post more when I do more. Also, I didn't record the PovRay results, but if you want to believe me, out of the box I got an average of around 315PPS and completed in 7 minutes.

Cheers! :)

Your choice of software seems rather cherry-picked to me, especially since this thread was created from a thread about gaming.

Are all of these benchmarks free to download? If so I may have the time later today or tomorrow to run them on my assortment of K10 processors. Been thinking of getting the 8120 and motherboard at Microcenter. Before I get flamed it's not for gaming, it's actually for threaded workloads and has good price/performance at Microcenter.

This is for fun and to have data, run the benchmarks and post your scores ;)

I can run some tests on my 4.1ghz FX6100 and 2700k this weekend. I can also record power consumption as well.

I think you mainly get a major boost in all of these benchmarks because of the 2133MHz RAM (tried the RAM difference myself, 300MHz makes for 2000 "points" in Winzip) OP, but the CPU is faster in these programs and that also helps a lot. Also, we may have had a bit different settings in the benches. All in all, I think that for a $220 CPU my i5 is doing really well :)

I would also like to see first gen and third gen Core processors doing these benchmarks.

i'm going to post my score when you get home but the OP may want to put links to the (free versions)software in the original post so people don't have to go searching for them.

TrueCrypt: http://www.truecrypt.org/download/transient/14969b3737/TrueCrypt Setup 7.1a.exe

Cinebench: http://http.maxon.net/pub/benchmarks/CINEBENCH_11.529.zip

Look at these Cinebench scores:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/core-i5-2500k-and-core-i7-2600k-review/14

Interesting info. Now that I've looked into it, it seems the i7 2600K is a real killer, but I also think the CPU performance scaling isn't so grand in this benchmark because some of the older architectures like Phenom II and i7 (1) beat the i5 (even though the i5 is mostly as fast or faster than the Phenom II X6 per clock and sometimes even in multithreaded apps).

Here are my results from a few months back when I upgraded from a 1090T to a 2600k:

3.8Ghz was as high as I could go on the stock cooler for the 1090T.
4.5Ghz is a nice conservative OC I am currently running the 2600k at.

Benchmark results:

Cinebench
1090T@3.3Ghz = 4.89
2600k@3.4Ghz = 6.50 (1300Mhz RAM before I realized I needed XMP on)
1090T@3.8Ghz = 6.74
2600k@4.5Ghz = 8.46 @1300 Mhz RAM, 8.77 @ 1600Mhz RAM

Heaven (all settings on MAX\Extreme Tess @ 1920x1080)
1090T@3.8Ghz/GTX460 = Min 2.2, Max 31.5, Avg 12.6
2600k@4.5Ghz/Single 6950 = Min 8, Max54.5, Avg 22.6
2600k@4.5Ghz/XFire'd 6950 = Min 16.3, Max 115, Avg 45.1

3DMark Vantage (Trial version 1280x1024):
1090T@3.8Ghz/GTX460 = 17489 3DMarks, 14336 Graphics, 51418 CPU, Jane Nash 43.57 FPS, New Calico 40.37 FPS
2600k@3.4Ghz/Single 6950 = 20474 3DMarks, 19650 Graphics, 23424 CPU, Jane Nash 58.31 FPS, New Calico 56.78 FPS
2600k@4.5Ghz/Single 6950 = 22521 3DMarks, 20844 Graphics, 29686 CPU, Jane Nash 64.87 FPS, New Calico 57.11 FPS
2600k@4.5Ghz/XFire'd 6950 = 33635 3DMarks, 35264 Graphics, 29542 CPU, Jane Nash 107.28 FPS, New Calico 99.17 FPS

Just for consistency's sake, here are the results at 4.7GHz on my i5 (though I still need faster RAM):

benchh.png

Load temperature and power consumption during Wprime @ 4.7GHz (overclocked from OS, lol):

benhh.png

Bear in mind this is not 100% CPU load and is only for 8 seconds.

PS: I hate that my i5 gets annihilated and pissed on by your guys' CPUs :( I hate you!

I only ran cinebench, what do I win? It also doesn't detect properly, but I guess 16/32 is enough for this.

edit: ran another. Am I doing this right? ;) Neither benchmark appears to function exactly correctly on this computer.... Hmm... They scale poorly. Ok, and the cinebench was an old screeny from quite a while ago that I took. I didn't actually run it tonight. Just the 7-zip.
