CPU Multiplier Problem

I have a friend who just got a ECS K7S5A board and 1.2 GHz Thunderbird, The problem is that the BIOS says his CPU multiplier is 10x. This can't be right for a 1.2 GHz process as far as I know. If he sets his bus/RAM speeds to 100/100 the processor ends up at 1 GHz, but if he sets the bus speed to 133/133 then the BIOS displays it as 1.33 processor. The chip he ordered is supposed to have a 133 MHz processor bus (at least thats what the store said). I've dealt with the company he bought it from and they've been good so I don't think they ripped him off. Anyone know if anything could be wrong with the BIOS?

Any help would be great.

Thanks guys.

Check out the processor itself to see if it actually a 1.2Ghz chip.
Here is a quote from some site:

What do the numbers on my AMD Thunderbird Athlon / Duron mean?
The specification of the newer AMD CPU's (Thunderbird/Duron onwards) can be deduced from a code (the Ordering Part Number or OPM) written on top of the CPU. The code is specified in the following format:

A SSSS P V T C F (e.g. A0850APT3B, D700AST1B)

A - The architecture: A = Athlon, D = Duron
SSSS - The clock speed of the CPU, e.g. 1000 = 1Ghz
P - The package type: A=PGA, M=Slot A.
V - Core Voltage: S=1.5, V=1.6, P=1.7, M=1.75, N=1.8
T - Temperature: Q=60, X=65, R=70, Y=75, T=90
C - L2 Cache size: 1 = 64Kb, 2=128Kb, 3=256Kb
F - FSB speed: A=200Mhz, B=200Mhz, C=266Mhz

yes make sure it is indeed the chip your friend ordered, also have you tried flashing your motherboard to the latest bios? can you manually adjust the multiplier?

Thanks for the help guys. No, he hasn't tried flashing the BIOS and I haven't had the chance to check if it was the right chip. The multipliers not unlocked so he can't do that either. You see the problem is that I'm trying to help him out over the phone, I haven't had the chance to actually look at the computer. I told him to set the FSB ratio to 133/133 and then check the temp and it didn't seem too bad so I'm guessing it's just a BIOS problem.
