has any one looked at the amount of cpu used in ox X for things running like itunes?

i have noticed that the cpu bogs down for applications that were designed for it

this is only momentary but still for running a few applications at a time the cpu should not be so busy
 
how busy? just sitting here using linux, with a browser open, mp3 player, irc and some terminals and cpu is at about 5%, and thats from the mp3s playing.
 
its more than 5%

the green is 1/4 to 1/3 of the window

the red is 1/4 to 1/3 of the green level

this was on the new imac

my older bd g3 500 is at full capacity, full window is green with some red when importing from my minidv

infact i tried to open a web browser and the importing stopped, that machine will not let me do both at the same time
