I just finished building my PC for the third time (after I RMA-ed my CPU and then motherboard).
Specs:
mobo: albatron K8x800 pro II
CPU : AMD 64 2800+
GPU: Sapphire radeon 9600 256mb
CD-ROM, CD-RW, SATA HDD
430V PSU

Everything went smooth (I didn't break or bend anything), but when I switched the PC on, there was no graphic on the monitor, but all the fans was working, etc, and the voice genie (on the K8x800 mobo) started saying something like "your CPU has got a problem" (It wasn't very clear).

Has anyone ever encounter the same problem? I have no clue whatsoever about what's wrong, so PLEASE help!!!!

i hope you didn't crush it with your HSF. if you didn't, who knows, maybe you just need to download a BIOS update. i would say try another CPU, but not many people have spare a64's just laying around the house.... yet...

I'd check the HSF setup, if not installed properly, it can cause serious problems/damage.

Hey, thanks y'all, for your help.

I got the problem fixed. It was actually an incompatibility betwenn albatron k8x800 and radeon 9600xt. Albatron didn't really document this and the only solution offered was a replacement with a compatible k8x800 (BIOS update won't help). So if you're thinking of buying a k8x800 mobo with radeon 9600xt, make sure you get the compatible k8x800.

Three cheers for 64 bit!

Do you have 64bit Linux installed or the Windows 64 bit beta? Otherwise you don't have 64bit but simple 32bit. I am curious, if you have 64bit, if you see any performance boosts (declines) etc.
