CPU Mobo compatibility help!

Decided to do some slight upgrading and bought a new cpu and mobo.

-cpu is AMD Phenom X4 (9750)
-mobo is ASRock A770DE+ AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157226)

After putting together, computer wont start. It doesn't go past POST. I am able to access BIOS and change settings so mobo isn't dead. All pins are intact on cpu and was a brand new unit. This leads me to think its a compatibility issue.

Is my cpu compatible with this board?
The am3/am2+/am2 may have confused me.
Some clarification on this would be a great help, Thanks!

according to Asrock, its compatible.

Try going into the BIOS and Load Setup Defaults and see if that clears things up.

The motherboard should be compatible with your CPU. The CPU compatibility page for your motherboard lists two 9750 Agena CPU's. HD9750WCJ4BGH is rated at 95 W and HD9750XAJ4BGH has a 125 W power rating.

Could your power supply be marginal or failing?

Try unplugging and reseating your RAM and any other plug in cards.

What RAM are you using? Is it compatilble?

Try plugging in just one stick of RAM. If it still doesn't work, try the other stick or other RAM.

Good luck. 🙂
