Been a while since I built a pc and such.. i have a i7 8750h laptop, specs of the cpu says ddr4-2666 speed, I had plans to salvage memory from my old dell which was ddr4-2400.. so basically it'll run at a lower speed.. any idea how much slower it will run or I wont really see that much of difference.

Thanks

You won't see any difference unless you benchmark it. Even then... trivial

So true, we all get waaaaayy too hung up on speed & latency. Reality is it’s barely perceivable aside from benchmarks.

Last night I was browsing memory

*prices are approximates
**16GB x2 sticks
3200 cas 14 $260
3600 cas 16 $280
3600 cas 19 $135

He has an Intel chip, and those are not very sensitive to latency or speed. Ryzen on the other hand is. Thats why those forst 2 are much more than the last. That cas19 will not be good for Ryzen.

Ok thanks.. ill save the money and yank the 32gb memory from my other laptop, one of those 32gb at 2400 or 16gb at 2666

the new one is one of them nvidia 1060 or something, not a gamer, so probably doesn't matter, the 2 nvme slots with a 2.5 drive bay is more important to me..

Does it have an insyde bios?

Look here for memory overclock scaling on the 6700HQ
