So, I'm about to build a PC and had selected the ASUS P8P67 Pro with the i7-2600k CPU at newegg. I noticed today that these were removed from my cart due to availability.

I figured OK, Newegg's loss and I checked around for other suppliers. I noticed that many other stores had the same thing. I ended up asking Newegg via chat support and was told that there was a problem with the manufacturer for those items and that they were waiting for a reply back.

After doing some research it makes a tiny bit more sense but as I havent been following the enthusiast scene for a while, I'm not sure if what I'm reading is correct.

Could someone that is more on the up and up of things confirm? Was there an issue with the i7-2600k? I read something on one of the stickies here that looked like it said there was but again, I'm not sure of what I'm reading. If thats the case, I hope the "fix" for them is not significantly more expensive.

Also, I wasnt able to find any other confirming information about the ASUS P8P67 Pro. That too had problems? From what it seems, I should be waiting to put that system together?

Does anyone have any thoughts they might be able to share to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Warmest Regards,

RB

Thanks for the response jlee however this was the post that I have read and wasnt sure what to make of this.

I guess its safe to assume that whatever suspicions I had with regards to i7-2600k and P8P67 are true, what a bummer!

Thanks again!

Man what if you already had a motherboard and now needed one of the new CPU's lol. That would suck.

Some places have them still I bet.

Yeah, I was actually going to purchase an i7-2600k and P8P67 motherboard from a competitor that claimed to have them in stock. I assumed that people were finding them on sale or just buying stuff for Superbowl Sunday this week.

I'm glad I did the research before hand but I'm bummed needless to say. I may explore an AMD alternative as a game I'd like to check out is being released in March. I dont necessarily want to wait until April for them to put out a fix and potentially charge more money for it as well.

Understand that the issue is entirely with the chipset. There are no known issues with any of the new CPUs that Intel has released.
