CPU limited even at 1920x1200 in Farcry 2

So I decided to to run some OCing tests on my 4870. Going from 750/950 to 800/1000 only netted me ~1fps on average in the Farcry benchmark at 1920x1200, DX10, ultra quality, 2AA, high trees.

Out of curiosity I decided to up my CPU speed from 3GHz to 3.2GHz and wadda you know I got 4fps out of that.

Is FC2 CPU limited even at that res and IQ level?

Or it could be that FarCry is CPU hungry. Don't expect all games to get results like that.

I know I just thought FC2 was very GPU intensive. I'm more surprised considering the res and IQ level.

High trees is very CPU intensive; it's the setting that controls the physics that make leaves and branches move individually in relation to wind.

although having a good cpu is very important in Far Cry 2 yours clearly looks to be doing okay. at ultra settings and 1920 it would be even more closely grouped for the top cpus and yours would be right there with them. http://www.pcgameshardware.com...CPU_benchmarks/?page=2

Yeah I've seen 1920 benchmarks before and thought mine looked about right (the AT review shows the same thing) but I just wanted to see what a GPU OC brought and it didn't bring much.
