I have a handbuilt 166 with 16 megs of ram. When i turn the computer on all it does is beep continuoulsly. Beep, beep, beep. There is nothing showing up on the screen , not even an error message. This is my daughters computer and she said she did not do anything to it but i don't know for sure. She did say not too long ago she saw a message about memory failure.

Beeps are normally CPU, Ram or Video. If the system is older, you may need to clean the contacts and reseat your components. I've found an ordinary pencil eraser works well for cleaning ram and video card contacts. If this does not help, you have one of those components that has gone bad. I suspect the Ram.
