Guys, please help me. I bought a cpu from someone on the forums. It was an oem x2 4200+. Before I bought it I asked if he would warranty it to not be DOA. He agreed. So I sold my CPU and bought his. I got a good cooler (Artic Freezer 64 Pro) to make sure this thing runs cold. I've never had any luck with OC'ing so I had no intentions of doing that. Just wanted a newer cpu for BF2, since the memory is now 2gb. The day before a lan party I get the cpu and heatsink in the mail. I thought, man this is awesome. Smack it together and fire it up. I install the AMD x2 patch. I jump online and start playing ET with my buddies. System reboots in the middle of the game no more than 20 min in. I thought...ekk..it must be getting hot in here. Check temps, under 32 on load. Validate CMOS is setup correctly, set to default, etc. System did it again. I went to sleep and got up for the party. No more than 20min in...nope same thing, reboot. Finally I pull the cpu, put it back in and update video drivers, set bios manually and it last for about 1.5 hrs playing bf2 then it reboots and never comes back.
I pull the cpu and put it in a friends rig running a 3800+ X2, nothing. I put his in my rig and it fires up.
I think DOA means it works stable for at least 24 hrs or something like that. This thing hasn't work from the second I installed it. Please let me know what you think?
Thanks,
-JC
