This story comes up every year, but its quite nostalgic every time

In this presentation i miss the Intel 286, 386, 486, that really made the pc market take off,- and the AMD K6 that brought AMD own design, for a first time, to a lot of consumers giving real competition for Intel - Apple was having a real hard time then.

It is sad that there are a great many 4,6 and 8 core machines that feel slower than the lowest cost 22nm celeron at many tasks.

Cool, we had a desktop Alpha 21264 running Win NT 4.0 in our lab and it was the fast box we had! FX!32 did an incredible job on non-native apps. Oh well, sucks that Intel/HP convinced CPQ to end development of the EV8 (or whatever the real story was)

This thing is still used everyday with an old black and white CRT to interface with our old communications equipment. Been working great for years. We joke about how old it is but the darn thing is still doing the job so there is no real pressure to upgrade, other than parts availability...

Evidently this thing runs a 233MHz 500nm 21064A CPU.
