I think I have everything set up right.

FSB is at 133, Mult is set at 12.5x/13x. On boot it was at 100, so I changed it to 133. Jumper is set to 266/333. What gives?

It's an XP2100+ chip. Right now, temp is at 26C

I don't know why, but there's a 12.5x/13.0x, and a 13.0x. On the 13x, it does the same.

i got this error intermittently along with several other problems until i realized that something under the board was causing a short. i unmounted/remounted the board and now everything works. this probably isnt the same as your problem, but i thought id throw it out there. I just definitely remember seeing "CPU have over speed" and laughing

Its the shipping BIOS, its miserable.

Read this thread

Also, advanced search and type "mechbgon" for author and only checkmark the motherboard forum and you'll see a few of his similar troubleshooting laundry lists on this motherboard :)

Well, It doesn't do it now. I set cpu freq to 133, mult set to auto, and mult to 12.5/13...now I'm working some boot issuses...I just disabled the SATA.

SHould RAM freq be By SPD or sync...

LOL :D Well I keep collecting more good things to suggest from you chiz, you're the one who owns an A7N8X-Deluxe. Seems like once people actually get them running, it's mostly clear sailing, unless they have The BIOS Revision Of Doom (1001G, right?)

EDIT on the last part, I'm stupid. I've got a *ahem* bad CD of XP Pro, that's not bootable. I'm installing Millenium now, that booted fine :) Once I get ME installed....I HATE WinMe!...I'll take it from there...

I have the 1001.G :/

trying to get it to boot off the CD-RW now so I can install XP

I get a PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable. need to look that one up.

veryifying dmi pool data
boot from atapi cd-rom

nvidia boot agent, pxe-2.0 (build 082 v1.82)
C 2001 Nvidia
C1997-2000 Intel
...wait...
PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F exiting nvidia boot agent

3com blah blah

It's deteced my HD and CDRW just fine, so it's not that.

That's the motherboard attempting to boot from your LAN. Take all LAN options out of your BIOS's bootup option list.

Turns out the problem was my XP cd wasn't bootable *idunno*, and it was looking for something to boot from. I threw my Millenium *barf* cd in there, will install that, then install XP over that. I need to stop being cheap :D

You need to hurry up and customize those voice messages:

  • System completed power-on self-test! --- > [ Monty Python ] I'm not quite dead yet...! [ / Monty Python
  • Computer now booting from operating system! --- > [ MW2 BattleMech computer ] Reactor online. Weapons online. Sensors online. All systems nominal. [ / MW2 BattleMech computer ]
  • CPU have over speed! --- > [ HAL 9000 ] I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave... [ HAL9000 ][/b]
  • System CPU fail! --- > Haha! Pbbbbbbbtht! :p

You CAN customize 'em, you know... :D

Right now, temp is at 26C

seems pretty unlikely, considering that's just above room temp

not impossible by any means, i was playing in my bios earlier today and it was showing mobo/cpu temps of 22/26 for me. its a bit chilly in here, but nothing to complain about. im not saying the core of the cpu is really at 26C, but for a mobo reading thats not really abnormal

thats on an xp2100+ @ default clock/voltage w/ 8045 and 42cfm fan
