CPU got roasted...opinions on replacement...

Due to the failure of my CPU fan, my P3-800EB CPU is toast. I'm debating what to replace it with. I have an Intel D815EEAL board. I put my old Intel BX/P3-550 back into my system to make it functional. $$ is an issue. I was pondering a 1.1 or 1.0 GHZ Celeron but am not sure my board will support it.

All suggestions/opinions welcomed.

It looks like your hosed on the newer celerons and tualatins. PIII 1 gig is tops for this board per Intel.

That's a bummer about the cpu. Buy a retail boxed one for the replacement and get the 3 year warranty.

should work with a good slocket which has voltage adjustment.
if you do follow this path, make sure you get a celeron which doesn't have an A in the title string as those are tualatin cores which will need a different m/board or the power adaptor!

I might just get a P3-1GHZ since that is the highest that will definitely work. I don't want to spend $ on a new board right now. I just need to get another CPU that is decent. I was about to sell my old board/CPU that I ended up putting back in. Good thing I didn't.
