CPU Fan placement

I am not quite sure definition of push and pull
Does "push" mean pushing air through CPU cooler? (i.e I have a TR U120 extreme and placed a fan in front of the CPU cooler sucking air from open space).
So Pull is sucking air out of CPU cooler? (Exhausting air into open space?)

push = push into the fins of the CPU

so yes, your understanding is correct. for the Ultra 120 E, you want it to push air into the cooler.

Yes you would want to push air towards the back of the case, well in most cases. As most cases have a rear exhaust, main reason a push is better than a pull is because the air hits the fins allot better in a push configuration. Or you could double up the fans and it won't matter.
