cpu fan going nuts?!?

Anyone know why my cpu fan (Zalman 7000-AlCu) is going this fast??? This is at idle ten minutes after power on. Maybe a bad sensor? Its certainly not making more noise than normal. Thanks for any help.

It's gotta be your motherboard's PWM sensor. No way that your fan could be spinning that fast without blowing the side off your case!

There is a possibility that the tach signal wire from your fan is damaged...try switching fan headers with another case fan, and see if you get similar results for each sensor/fan.

whoa...just noticed your PSU fan is reading over 9000 rpm. So it's definitely the motherboard.

Maybe try flashing the BIOS? I don't know enough about this type of error to say whether it's hardware or bios.

Was that your rig that just whirred by my window? The thing was six feet off the ground and moving at high velocity.

ROFL 🙂
CPU and PSU fan speed reading are definitely wrong...
