CPU Fan connector question

I'm considering a AMD Sempron LE-1250 for a budget computer. I'm trying to figure out if it comes with a PWM controllable fan.

I've been to AMD's site, and couldn't find any info, sorry.

I guess what I mean is do all new AM2 CPU's come with 4-pin (not molex) fans?

Depends on the age of the cpu. Newer ones come with 4-pin fans while older ones are just 3-pin. Don't know for sure about the LE-1250.

My X3 came with a 4-pin fan. 4-pin fans are not necessary though, as some mainboards have both PWM and voltage fan control.

Around a month ago I got a Celeron Dual-Core E1200 and it came with a 3-pin. I've been encountering quite a few boards lately that are unable to control a 3-pin fan, including boards using G31, X58 and 750a chipsets.

Dark Cupcake, do you consider an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane an old CPU? I'm pretty sure the LE-1250 is the same as that but with a bad cpu core, or speed problem (without over volting).

A fan with a three-pin connection can still be used on a motherboard with a four-pin connection, you'll just have to control speed via a rheostat
