CPU Fan causing reboot ?

First of all this is my first post here !

I must say that it seems like a great place and these forum layouts are certainly excellent !

My question is about my CPU fan. It seems to be loud on boot and then quiets after a little while. The last couple of days though, when booting up in the morning (bad winds caused power outages, so turned off at night) the darn computer suddenly reboots for no reason. Would this be caused by a bad fan ? after a while it seems like the system is warmed up and everything will work fine for some time. But it does concern me, needless to say. :Q

Thank You,

Huh that's weird, I really dought that it could be your fan, but if you have it pluged into the CPU fan header on your motherboard, try to plug it in another one. I know there was a problem with the kt7 motherboard wtih cheep sensors in the fans.

Nice poker game on your site, Ryder! I played for 20 minutes... :)

I had some trouble with a Golde Orb on a BX a couple of months ago. Had to cut the wire that reports the fan's RPM to the system to prevent it from rebooting from time to time. It also froze (beforge the wire-surgery) in BIOS, when checking "pc health" (exactly after having read the RPM of the fan).

Another thing you could try is to look for a setting in the BIOS that says "HDD boot delay (seconds)", or something similar. Increasing this can give the system enough time to spin up fans etc. before spinning up the drives.

Good Luck!
