cpu fan adaptor

HI
I have a very old pc that uses a amd thunderbird cpu. I built it in 2001.
The fan on the cpu is a 60 mm fan and is so loud I can hear it when I take my hearing aids out! LOL
I replaced the original fan with a new one and the new one is just as loud.

Is there a adaptor that I can use to mount a 80 mm or 90 or 120 mm fan on the cpu cooler?
The cpu is normally running at 1200 mhz and every so often I bump it up to 1333 mhz and need some extra cooling too.

Is it possible to buy a adaptor and use a larger fan? I already have 89 and 90 mm fans that move as much air as the 60 mm fan.
Thanks

It will take a DOY job I guess.

An 80mm fan will be larger than the cooling block so much of the air will pass along the block instead of through it. I would make a funnel from carton or something similar.

Good luck.
