CPU explodes from overclocking

that is definitely BS. there is no way on earth a motherboard could withstand the power draw needed to explode a processor. the inductors would not allow for such a rapid current change, and even if they did, we would have seen some sizzling traces and melted voltage regulators.

also, blowing through a piece of wood? no way in hell.

kinda hard to fake the slow-mo part, i would think. but i don't see how a cpu could explode, either.

looks like a fire-cracker was set off below it. the hole through the wood was probably pre-cut.

i could be completely wrong but until im proven to be 100% wrong then this is BS.

Yeah, it's a load of crap, we've seen that one before. If the cpu was gonna blow, the die would have blown, not the packaging..

I would have to think the hole in the motherboard was pre-cut as well.

agreed...

also, a duron at 3.8ghz on 4.2 volts? ummm..........

I had a hard drive go bad, and I decided to test it out on a computer I had with an open case, WHen I booted up, there was a 2 INCH JET OF FLAME coming from one of the chips on the hard drive PCB board! I yanked out the power supply before it got any further, but I wouldn't have been surprised if something would have exploded.

theres no way they could have

A. Gotten the Duron running off of over 4 volts.
B. Gotten the Duron running at 3.8Ghz and stable enough to boot into windows.
C. Gotten the Duron to boot into windows without the heatsink clipped to the lugs.

Other points
1. Assuming that the above could have happened, then without the fan running the heatsink would have become burning hot and they guy who lifted it off the processor would have burn himself.
2. Processors DO NOT explode, fire crackers do.
3. Processors tend to smoke and smell awful when they burn. THG got a couple of early socket A CPUs for fry they also did a video of this. You might try looking at that site.

Hah.. now I'm not 100% sure, but this looks like BS to me. I think the CPU would just fizzle and die. But I'll leave this video to the hardware experts... just thought I'd post this here for fun.

I saw a version without the hokey stupid commentary (I think was added by a third party.)

Next up, the fan isn't even runnning before they pull the proc. I doubt it would pop like that. Methinks some sort of pyrotechnics were used....

On top of that....a hole through the table?! Total BS....

there putting 4.2v through that cpu w/o the fan running? hell even w/ the fan running thats insane. total BS

i think the duron they using is possibly a palomino core as well.....those things dont go much over 1.8-2.0ghz if your lucky

There is no fuc_king way to make a Duron go past POST on 4.2V Vcore without instantly destroying CPU.

There's no way it would reach post, no motherboard would support that kind of voltage so it'd have to be a custom volt mod, and the cpu would instantly die, or if lucky the motherboard might die, but there's no way they would have gotten any kind of boot up (on any cooling).

It's worse than that, it appears to be a spitfire Duron which puts it at the same vintage as socket A T-birds.

I think the point is being missed here. It is irrelevant whether the processor could be booted at those voltages, the hole in the table/mobo simply cannot happen.

If you set an m80 on that table and exploded it, it wouldn't put a hole in the table. There is no resistance up into the air or to the sides, so all the force would expand in those directions, away from the table.

And by the way, jets of flame do not shoot out of HDs either.

They put C4 or somthing under the table. Amusing nonetheless.

As for it not booting.... I think the monitors hooked up to some other comp and the screen is being faked. Either way, explosions rule 😀
