CPU Core Temps?

I have a AMD 3700 San Diego. Just put a new HS/F on. TT Silent Boost. When running Prime 95, Speed Fan shows temp1 ( CPU ) around 45C. BUT, core temp is running around 65C+!! AMD says proc is good to 71C, which I thought was temp1. If that means core, then I have a problem. I did HS/F install with AS#5. Any thoughts??

First, fix your rig link (i'll forgive you cause your new 😉):

Temp1 might be the north bridge not the CPU.
Your gonna want to go by what the core temp is (if it's even reading that correctly).

I've looked at the silent boost. Doesn't look top of the line but I think you should be getting better temps then 65C.
You should try re-seating the cooler. Remember, GRAIN OF RICE sized piece of thermal compound (AS5 is the best).

Everest, N-Tune, and Speed Fan all say CPU temp is Temp1 on speed fan. Northbridge temp is Mobo temp on Speed Fan. Only Speed Fan separates Core temp and CPU temp.

I knew the silent boost wasn't the best, but I wanted a fan that blew down. My side fan is directly over the CPU and blows straight at CPU fan. Thought this would work well. Also, I pulled HS/F and checked it for flat. It wasn't. I used a new very flat honing stone, diamond on steel, to flatten then polished. All temps dropped 10*C. Works for me.
