I live in Australia, and summers definately here. It's averaging >30C most days, and my computer isn't enjoying it. During the day, my CPU fan (stock HSF) will be spinning continuously at ~5800rpm. I presume this is the max speed.

Since I live in Australia, PC modding gear from larger companies, like Zalman and ThermalTake, are easier to find and cheaper to buy than stuff from smaller, more specalised companies like Thermalright.

The Zalman CNPS9500-Led and Thermalright XP-90 both seem good choices, but in the forums people tend to favour the XP-90 because of cost. But I've found the 9500 for the same price as the XP-90 (w/o fan).

My question: Should I get the Zalman 9500?

Alright cool.

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe, so it should be compatible. anyone have any experience with this combo(9500 with A8N-ALI)?

I can actually get the Zalman cheaper - since the XP-90 also needs a fan.

So the Zalman is definately better - sweet.

Hi Rod, know all about the summer temps here in Aus at the moment, and have been researching cooler upgrade for a while now. So far I have shortlisted the Zalman 9500 & Big Typhoon ... It would be much appreciated if u could post some results after ur install, idle/load/ & relative noise level.
Could u also mention which case ur using, seems to have an effect on performance greatly, the Zalman I prefer becuase of ease of install and its relative low weight, but from what I hear, its not the quietest going around...look forward to hearing from u :)

Yeah, I guess once I've bought and installed it.

BtW: My case is just a decent sized generic case, with 5 80mm fans.

One nice effect of the Zalman 9500 is that when set up to point its air flow at the case's
exhaust fan, it helps speed the movement of air through the case.
Many other HS fans move air in a different direction, cause turbulance and interfere
with the force of that flow.
