CPU Coolers on Gigabyte B75M-D3H.

Hello there, I'm new to the forums. Today's my first day and this is my first post. I've recently assembled a system with the specifications as follows :-

CPU - Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.3GHz
M/B - Gigabyte B75M-D3H
RAM - G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
GPU - Gigabyte R7850 2GD5/OC @ 975MHz
Cab - Cooler Master Elite 371
PSU - Corsair CX600W
HDD - 2x Seagate Barracuda 1TB @ 7200RPM
OPD - Asus 24X DVD-RW

Now, I wanted to know that if I can install CPU Heatsinks like CM Hyper TX3 Evo or CM Hyper 212 Evo on that motherboard without any room/space and RAM interruptions, because I know that it's a Micro-ATX mainboard.

You should be able to run a 212+ without problems by populating the 1st and 3rd RAM slots.

The TX3 is only a 92mm unit, the 212+ is a 120mm unit... if you are going to use an aftermarket cooler, that's where I would start.

Here is a photo of my desktop Gigabyte board (a Z68, but the RAM slots are the same distance from the cooler mounting studs, so the distance on the B75 is identical...) You will note the fan hangs over the 4th slot; in fact, when I had my Sniper RAM in there, the heatsink pressed up against the RAM in the #3 slot.





With the 212+ you can slide the intake fan up on the heat exchanger (it's just clipped on) but it will only go so far... I don't know how much higher the Ripjaws are.

My suggestion to you is to dump the Ripjaws and get a matched set of 4x 4GB low profile RAM (or whatever size you want to get to) or just RAM without heatsinks.

And, just for fun, your B75M-D3H in my HTPC with the Intel cooler (actually, the Intel cooler for my i5... it has a copper base.)

Hello, thanks for the reply. I have another problem here now, I hope you guys will help. I ordered a Deepcool Gammaxx 200 CPU Cooler and got it today, the problem is the 1 of the brackets have the push pins inserted on the edges already, out of the box. But on the other plate, one pushpin is inserted, and one came out individually and now I'm not able to find a way to insert it back in the plate as it's already pressed inside and tight enough to not loosen up easily. Here's another problem, just to confirm I was trying to install the plate on one side, but I was having some problems, as you have a B75M-D3H, can you confirm if it supports heatsinks which involve side plates before installing the heatsink? Thanks.

I think we have to insert that pushpin ourselves in the plate as it isn't humanly possible to de-attach it as there's no opening, but I wonder how will I insert it back, it was as it is out of the box. Please help.

It shouldn't matter what mobo you are mounting it to... all 1155 socket coolers should be the same. If a cooler includes a mounting backplate, I'm sure it's designed properly for your mobo.

I'm having a little trouble with your terminology... are you talking about the plastic retention pieces?

Did it come with instructions?

To be honest, I'm looking at some images of the 200... I don't think it has a back plate. It mounts just like a standard stock Intel cooler.

For the same reason that if you go to china, you will fit in their doors even though they've never met you, any heatsink will fit for you with no issues. Standards.

The only time issues exist is if you have both a small case (less than 170mm wide) and clearly, obnoxiously tall ram (like it's obviously tall ram). Even then, you can always remove the ram heatsinks, and usually remove the offending tall part too, and you can almost always just slide the fan up (hence, if you got a small case, you might not be able to slide the fan up, ie a perfect storm of suck needs to occur to have issues).

Do you have all 4 retention pins?

If so, why are you not able to put the missing one in the hole in the plate where it belongs... like the others.

I'm still not getting what you are trying to figure out. Pictures would help.

If you're trying to undo a push-pin after it was pushed in, rotate the top in the direction of the arrow on top and then pull up. This will release the push pin. Then rotate the top back to the original position (opposite direction of the arrow).
