Hi All,
I'm going to be replacing my current CPU HSF (Coolermaster) with a new one (Blizzard S370U). My question is: The coolermaster came with the little piece of heat tape on the bottom. I used this because it came with the cooler. Now if I remove the coolermaster, will there be a a lot of residue all over the processor (AMD Athlon 1.2)? If so, I would assume that this should this be removed before I install the new cooler. How would I remove the residue without damaging the CPU? I am concerned that any junk left on the CPU will effect the contact of the new cooler to the die. I am planning on using thermal paste for the new cooler. If this is not a problem, great. I'm just being a bit careful.
Second question: Has everyone left the four little pads on their AMD processors for the HSF installation? Mine are currently on.
Thanks for any help.
