Need to send my mobo in for a RMA. Since I still have a stock cooler on it was gonna put a new one on this time. Any links for reviews of coolers that work with the evga 680i board?

I never said not to use it on the CNPS9700. I said you probley could get away without using it on the CNPS9500, but the wieght of the 9700 may be a problem. You can try and not use the backplate. What you'll notice is the board starting to warp and the socket starting to bulge out. This willl eventually break the connections inside the board if it warps to far. You can pull the board out once a month for the first three months and inspect it from the back to make sure it is not starting to warp. This was something I stated for the GA-N680SLI-DQ6 with the crazy cooler2 rear heatsink(see the below link). I would not advise doing this on the EVGA when it is so simple to gouge out a couple littel areas on the backplate to fit over the resistors. You can use a soldering iron or a dremel to do this very easily.
On a sidenote I thought it was Only the EVGA board that had the resistors on the backside around the cpu socket mounting area. I was not awhere of any other reference boards that had anything protruding in this area that would cause interferance. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear
