CPU compatibility

I have an Asus k30ad_m31ad_m51ad motherboard. I have it paired with a i5 4440 and a GTX 780. In the future I want to go with a higher GPU and game in higher resolution. I'm looking for a CPU that can handle it without having to buy the most expensive ones out there.

You are out of luck with the CPU, but the GPU can be upgraded to a new one. I would go with the GTX 1060 or 1070.

Yes you could go with the 1070, it should work fine. While you go with a Haswell i7 CPU, it will be more of a sidegrade and will cost you about as much as upgrading to a new CPU, motherboard, and memory.

Yeah, you'd have to get a good deal on a Haswell i7 to make the CPU upgrade worth it.

Gaming at higher resolution isn't affected by the CPU at all...
If you are OK with the amount of FPS you are getting now when lowering graphics settings to the lowest then you will be OK with the new GPU and the same CPU.

Yeah, but the thing is that in the future, I want to game at very high resolution, and at least 60 fps. So I'm just trying to see what I would need to upgrade to, in order to achieve that.

Yeah so first get your GPU to the level you want it to be.
If you do that and see that your CPU is holding you back too much then worry about changing the CPU.

Right now, I'm gaming on 1080p 60+ fps. In a year or so, I want to game at a higher resolution, but with the same fps. Say 1440p to 4k.

1440p@60fps is easy enough, that is what I play at with a i5-4670 and GTX 970.

But doesn't it depends on the game? The game that I play the most is the Battlefield.

Well the most demanding game I have is Mad Max. Using Vulkan I can reach 60 FPS on Linux, but the outdoor scenes does push the averages down a bit although with quite less jerkiness compared to OpenGL .

I'm planning on getting Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but I think that game will push my system to the limits.
