CPU Compatibility Question

Hey guys,
My CPU recently went dead, so im looking to buy a new one now. What I need to know is if an AMD slot A 800 thunderbird will work with my ABIT KA7-100. I remember reading somewhere that thunderbird processors will not work with the KA7-100, but those were the socket A ones I believe.

Thanks,
Scaromanga

this is from the f.a.q. page of the abit website...

<< What kind of Slot-A Athlon CPUs do the KA7 and KA7-100 support?

VIA KX133 chipset only supports Slot A Athlons with .25 architecture, not .18. To find out if your CPU is .25 or .18 architecture, check the number on the top of the cartridge. "AMD K7xxx" stands for .25, while "AMD-A0xxx" stands for .18 architecture. (The latter is also known as Thunderbird, and cannot be used on the KA7 or KA7-100.)

it would seem that this mobo does not support the slot-a t-birds (or at least not officially).

AMD750 mobos are supposed to work with all slotA cpus.
KX133 mobos are supposed to work with .25 athlons, .18 athlons, and tbird up to 800 or 850 mhz. I have an asus k7v with a tbird 700, overclocked stable to 800

aye, your board should support 800mhz t-bird regardless of the process it was manufactured on...or at least, as far as i've read.

sir
menelik.
