Just curious out of the lineup of AMD cpu's , which one would closely match this Intel cpu, performance wise ?

Whoa' , I just checked the prices between them !

AMD XP2700/333 = $108.

Intel P4 2.66/533 = $160.- $170.


Why such a huge price difference ?
 
Genreally, AMD is cheaper. They have to be to attract buyers since most people will go with whats more familiar (Intel).

Keep in mind that if you decide to spend 170, you could get an athlon64 series processor that will blow away that P4 and athlonXP.
